2004 Roderich Paesold 595 V

$42.21 $59.09
Description This bass has a bit of nostalgia for me now. It is one of the Hofner-made Roderich Paesold 595 V models in 7/8 size. The distributor told me that I sold as many of the 7/8 size Paesold basses as the rest of their dealer base. For several years I played 7/8 size Paesold basses as my go-to instrument for gigging. At that time, I could go down to the Pomona warehouse and pick them out myself. I didn’t care much about the flame figure in the woods as I did the musical tap tones of the top. This bass has been very well maintained for a 21 year old working orchestral instrument. The top grain is medium-fine throughout and the grain lines are bold and pronounced. This bass has a profound musical voice. The “V” designation stands for “Violin Corner”, which I also cared little about, as I was most concerned with the instrument having a large and musical voice. The maple used was fairly plain, but quite healthy and even in character. Hofner air-dried their 595 level maples for a minimum of 9 years, quite a time investment. The neck has been fitted with with special embossed Rubner gold and black halfplate tuning machines. The tailpiece was upgraded to an ebony Hill style unit and the endpin is the deluxe ULSA 10 mm steel rod model. The dimensions are: Top length 44 3/8″, Upper bout width 21″, Middle bout width 15 1/4″, Lower bout width 27″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/2″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 8 1/4″, Rib depth at neck joint 6 7/8″, String length 42 1/4″. This special bass is great sounding in an orchestra and now is quite rare, as Hofner stopped making the 7/8 size  Paesold branded basses about 15 years ago. With cover.   Special Spring Sale  Price:  $11,000
