I was looking for a downward firing shop light to supplement my indirect lighting. I wanted it to be high lumens (5000 ) and close to 2700 K color temp, battery and ac powered and remote controllable and with a hook for hanging. No such thing at the big box stores. But then I came across this iodoo model which met every requirement and then some. So I ordered it, tested it out for a day and, so far, it does what it says it should do.One of my requirements was to have a hook for hanging above my workbench so I wouldn’t have to install a dedicated socket. This light has one but, because the hook is attached to a corner of the base, it hangs askew at an angle so not acceptable (it is pretty flimsy anyway). However, it has four magnets in the base for hanging and that works very well after installing a few thin metal construction strong ties to stick it on. Box checked on that.I also wanted a warm color temp close to 2700 K and this iodoo gets very close to it at 3100K (as per the manual). It also switches to bright white and a color between warm and white. I usually prefer to run it at the warm setting (note: the iodoo does not remember your last color temp setting so every time you turn it on it defaults to bright white. (Not a biggy but the kind of thing you have to put up with at a modest price point.)I wanted the light to run on both ac and battery power and it does that. To run on ac just plug the supplied USB-A cable end into a power strip. While plugged into ac power via USB the unit apparently runs from the on board battery but continually charges it so that only 1 led charge light blinks, never going below that. (I haven’t tested the run time of the battery itself but others here have).I never really expected to get a remote controlled light but here it is. And it works well with all the basic functions (on/off, dimming, and color temp selection; even comes with a coin battery). Beside being uber convenient the remote has one function not found on the controls on the body of the fixture itself: you can cycle through all the color temp options but bypass the annoying red flashing emergency mode. For that the remote has a dedicated button. How convenient. As for the tripod, it has limited height and adjustments but it has the virtue of simplicity of setup and breakdown. I won’t have much use for it except for emergencies and for that I imagine it will work well. The carry bag: more substantial than others have described but certainly not heavy duty. Again more than adequate.Overall, the iodoo light meets all of my requirements. It is not a professional build quality and has a certain fragility about it but it does perform as advertised; only time will tell how long it will last. I hope it lasts a long time because I know of no other manufacturer that makes one like it. Really, if Makita, DeWalt or MIlwaukee made a more robust version of this I would buy it even at a much higher price.
