Picks up as well or better then the Dyson I owned before this. (There was also a brief three use hate relationship with an Electrolux which I would give 1 star to. Then I got this vacuum on advice of a friend). I’ve owned this vac for about two years now and with having three dogs, it gets a lot of use. What makes it so much better than the Dyson is how light and maneuverable it is, how well all the pieces effortlessly snap together (ok – everything but the front faceplate on the HEPA filter, that has to be fiddled with to get it back on), the ability to switch efficiently between the power brush and crevice tool (that was such a multi-step production on the Dyson), how incredibly easy it is to use on stairs, how easy it is to take apart and clean, I could go on and on. You get the sense that the designers actually used it a lot around a real house when they were designing and testing it. I never felt that with the Dyson – it had a lot of great whiteboard ideas, but was clumsy to use in real life. If you get one and would like to use it as a canister vacuum, buy the (non-included) canister caddy; it’s a little pricey for what it is, but it does work very well. Also, if you want to get one of those “As Seen on TV” attachments that look like a bundle of straws (great attachment btw for cleaning computer equipment and cluttered desks and bookcase dusting), it fits right on this vac (unlike the Electrolux and Dyson).
