The price meets the product. I wouldn’t say this is an exceedingly expensive shade, but it isn’t a budget shade either. The thickness of the shade demonstrates that, as does the versatility. It feels well suited for insulating. You can also choose from white or gray, which is a clever and accommodating offering. It’s essentially two shades in one.The shade does block light, but it’s imperative you get the right size. Unfortunately, the sizes come in premeasured options, so, invariably, there will be some who will not get to enjoy the complete blackout experience. You could install ones large enough to mount over the frame, but I’ve found those also allow light in. This could be a deal breaker, and although I am one of those people who has a gap between the shade and window frame, I did invest in a strip that adheres to the border of the frame to cover that extra little gap. Whether or not some are willing to spend the extra to do so, is a matter of preference and willingness, but this is a reality of buying premeasured shades.The brackets, although reliable, were quite large. Perhaps this is required to reliably mount the shade, but they are almost too big for my frame. A little is actually sticking out, so I think a more universally acceptable bracket would be a prudent inclusion. The hardware, as expected, is cheap, and easily stripped if you aren’t careful. It’s best to take your time and make sure you get it right the first time (if you choose to use the included hardware).The pulley system is quite efficient. It isn’t too sensitive or too loose. It feels right and comfortably lowers and lifts the shade. This system feels a little outdated, as many shades now can be lifted and lowered just by using your hand to push or pull the base, but this is an easy and reliable version of the classic pulley system.I love the grey and white color options, the reliable pulley system, the added benefit of insulation and the inherent blackout effect. If this had better hardware and more accommodating brackets, and maybe a newer lifting and lowering design, this would be a solid 5 star review. Having said that, it is still a fine shade and a strong recommendation by me.
